What Does Thin Float Mean?
On Wall Street, a "Thin Float" refers to a corporation that has a small number of tradable shares outstanding. Such a stock is said to have a "Thin Float". Rick Franz and Mary Lees Gunther are co-owners of the boat, and they work together in a brokerage firm. Since there are only two shares outstanding, the name Thin Float was adopted. Thin Float is a proud member of the Baltimore City Yachting Association (BCYA) based in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. Thin Float proudly competes in BCYA sponsored races and events, as well as in other clubs such as the North Point Sailing Association and the Rock Creek Racing Association. All three clubs sponsor evening races at locations on the historic Patapsaco River from Baltimore's Inner Harbor, past Fort McHenry and Sparows Point to the civil war forts at Fort Smallwood and Fort Howard on the mouth of the river where it meets the Chesapeake bay. On weekends we race in CBYRA sponsored races all over the Chesapeake.
